Just an idea, what if Yelp allowed users to review anything, not just venues

Books, movies, whatever, would it be good or bad if Yelpers could Yelp about more than just venues?  I'd be for it.  Or maybe it's good to keep my movie review on Netflix, my Book review on Amazon, and my restaurant reviews on Yelp?  What do you think?

mmm...that's probably in their business plan.  You figure that it'd be great to have a Yelp!Shopping, Yelp!Movies, Yelp!People, etc.  I mean, think if the fine people that bring us http://www.gofugyourse... had Yelp accounts.  :)

Well, you can review anything now, but you have to put in a location for it, so people put in San Francisco because it has the highest amount of users.  Some of the esoteric reviews:

Me http://www.yelp.com/bi...

my job http://www.yelp.com/bi...

my website http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Beer http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Birthdays http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Cellphones on the bus http://www.yelp.com/bi...

etc., etc.

Tops on my wishlist would be some categorization for things to review so there could be some uniformity (website, tv show, movie, vacuum, etc) that did not require location.  This will probably make me a pariah, but I am not a big fan of the anything reviews...I wish the structure existed to do this in a more organized fashion.

Next would be the ability to write a review about businesses with multiple locations.  I would like to write a review of Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks and not have it linked to a specific location.

Maybe this has not happened yet because Yelp is driven by location, but if it evolved into something that was a jigger of amazon, a shot of epinions, and a splash of craigslist for flavor, I would be pleased.

And where is the calendar of events by location for that matter??
