Does anyone know of any hotels around the area (South Bay) that allow pets?  My sister is coming up to visit and she wants to bring her "baby".  My house is NOT an option.  Thanks!

The one I know about is Cypress Inn in Carmel (http://www.cypress-inn...),

You could also look at http://www.pets-allowe... (I found it by googling: hotel pet "san jose")

www.petswelcome.com has lots of listings.  The interface and search capabilities aren't good but the information is pretty comprehensive.  It looks like the Motel 6 chain is liberal, allows 1 pet per room with no fee.  Crowne Plaza Palo Alto allows pets but charges a 25 buck fee.  There are a whole slew in San Jose, including several major brands.

When you use that site, after you select the state, you'll see a list of featured listings.  Ignore that and use the city list on the left to select a city and then show listings.  Kind of a pain in the ass, but they include a lot of information where applicable for each property.

Go to your local Borders and take notes out of this book called "The Dog Lover's Companion to the Bay Area", don't buy it, just take notes. There are all sorts of listings of dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, and other establishments.

Michelle d: How about buying the book? The authors spent a lot of time finding informtion that you value and the store paid wholesale for it.

Public libraries are places to read and not buy (and they need support as well).

Cheers

Richard - as her sister is just in town for a little while and she herself doesn't have a pet, why would she need to buy it? Of course, the library is a great institution for that as well. But I think it's perfectly fine to read at the bookstore if you don't need to read the whole book. But let's not get all political, 'cause that isn't what this talk string is about. :-)

Thanks everyone!  I'm passing ALL of the info to my sister and she's amazed at all the info I'm giving her! =) Just to update you - she found a hotel in Sunnyvale - www.mapletreeinn.com - and it looks like she'll be staying there during her visit!  Check it out yourself!  The price seems to be right!

Just M, this is a little late I suppose, but I used to work at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino at De Anza and Steven's Creek they not only allow pets but they also provide bowls for them. It's a Kimption Boutique Hotel so it is on the pricer side, but for future reference if you want it.
