Would love reccommendations on can't miss bars, clubs, shopping, restaurants, museums, SxSW performers in town, walks, petting zoo, etc/
Would anyone want to do an impromptu Yelp event? Why don't we all meet at the sports club LA or something- But seriously... Throw down Yelp/ LA

If you're in town tonight (Friday), hit the Hammer museum for their "Hammer Bash" party celebrating the closing of the comics show. It usually pretty fun and well attended by a good mix of Angelenos, and the art is cool too.

I'll be at the Pasadena Ritz Carlton bar for some blues by the amazing Mickey Champion tomorrow night.
The Cha Cha Lounge is a new bar that seems to be the shit these days. Have dinner at Ginger Grass, maybe check out an Art Opening at Ghetto Gloss, and then head over to Cha Cha for a complete Silver Lake hipster evening. Or screw the line and drink a bottle of wine at the Silver Lake Wine shop.

The J Paul Getty Museum (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is a must.
If time allows, the LA County Museum of Art (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is a close second.
For huge portions of great Cuban cuisine at reasonable prices, go to Versailles (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
I know you can get plenty of Mexican in SF, but El Cholo (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is worth a visit.
Best happy hour in town probably is at McCormick & Schmick's (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
Santa Monica isn't that far from downtown LA - check out Bread & Porridge (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) for breakfast.
There's good lunchtime grazing at the Farmers Market (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
A.O.C. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) has pricey Mediterranean-style tapas.
If you want to escape the city's frantic pace for a couple of hours, check out Griffith Park (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
The Hollywood Bowl (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is a great venue for concerts under the stars. Check out their schedule.

Thanks Guys!! The sad thing is I knew about The Hammer thing and the kids were just too out of shape to hit it I think. Did you go how, was it? I love the silver lake hipster thing, but is it alive on Sat. Isn't it more a Mon/ Tues thing?
Keep them coming. Full report shortly. Last night we came out strong.

Mondays and Tuesdays are good for Wine Tastings, but you can buy a bottle and drink it at the store whenever you like i believe. The Ghetto Gloss opening was last night. But Cha Cha will definately be packed tonight and a friend mentioned that he saw Jake Gyllenhall there one night....if thats an attraction for you. Silverlake is always hoppin on the weekends.

I second the recommendation for the Getty.
For shopping, try Melrose Avenue. Start at Aaardvark's (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) or SLOW (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) and then radiate out. Stop by Fred Segal (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) for a possibly celebrity sighting and then get grounded at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). There are tons of great places to eat there as well.
Real Food Daily (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) offers a unique vegetarian dining experience.
I also love "Little Ethiopia". Try Merkato (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
Or for a really bizzare experience, head to the Santa Monica Airport for sushi at Hump (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).

Next time you are in LaLa land let me know and I will hook you up with the cool places of the moment. Although you look like you could get into too much trouble on your own. :)

Day late dollar short....
I am building a new restaurant in your neighborhood so I may just have to ask for your SF food props.
Cheers
