Hi All!   I would like to take my boyfriend to some place Charlie Trotter-esque but perhaps less notorious. My list of potentials includes Naha, Moto, and Tru.

Anyone have any recommendations/suggestions for restuarants backed by so-called "Star Chefs" in Chicago?  Ideally, I'm looking for a place I can expect the chef to actually be in the kitchen.

Thanks!

Arun's on N. Kedzie might suit your needs, it serves an upscale Thai tasting menu that is prepared by the chef himself, it has received almost universally outstanding reviews, I want to try it myself some day.

Matsumoto's for Chicago's only Japanese kaiseki restaurant.  Google it for numerous reviews replete with pictures.

Forget the restaurant and have the chef come to YOU!  For the same price , you can have a wonderful plated dinner suited to your taste, prepared by an award winning personal chef.  I've used Chef Edward myself (for both small dinners and a wedding reception) and recommend him highly.  He does dinners for 2 or 200.  Check out his website at www.YourChefCatering.com.
